Hi. I'm Marta, owner and psychotherapist for Evans Family Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Let's get real for a moment. Our medical model of mental health is failing so many of us. Mental health issues are on the rise across all age groups and genders, and there just isn't the help available through our publicly funded healthcare system. Often when you do find help, the focus is on counteractive therapies that work at suppressing, pushing away, or changing symptoms, thoughts, feelings, etc.
I started this practice to help people like you rediscover your strengths and gifts through conversations and transformational therapies that honour who you are, where you've come from, and what is possible today. I believe that sometimes we all could use a little help in our journey towards healing, health, and enjoyment.
You've been to therapy before, and you've talked about your issues but you don't really feel like you've healed your issues. Or maybe you've gotten to the point in therapy where you feel stuck.
Or, something might feel off but you've always decided that your problems aren't "bad enough" for therapy because others have it worse than you do.
We get it.
The anxiety and self doubt. Drinking/eating/thinking/worrying/scrolling too much. Feeling the pull of perfectionism and people pleasing. Constantly running to attain what we think we're supposed to chase after. Wondering why some of our reactions and behaviours happen. Hating some aspects of ourselves and really not showing up in a way that we know we can. And seeking answers to all of this and just not finding it in therapy.
At Evans Family Counselling & Psychotherapy (EFCP), we believe in seeing the whole person, not just their struggles. Instead of labeling or judging, we focus on understanding your experiences and helping you navigate life’s challenges with kindness and care.
Our goal is to help you build stronger, healthier connections—with yourself and with others. By working together, we’ll support you in developing more self-awareness, resilience, and skills to handle relationships and life’s ups and downs. Healing and growth are ongoing processes, and we’re here to guide you as you embrace your unique path, learn from your experiences, and build meaningful connections.
If you’re looking for caring therapists who truly "get it," you’ve found the right place. At EFCP, we offer a safe, welcoming space where we’ll walk beside you every step of the way, helping you tackle challenges and celebrating your progress.
Our therapists aim to foster an emotionally safe environment where clients can explore difficult feelings, experiences, and memories without feeling overwhelmed or re-traumatized. We provide support, validation, and coping strategies to help clients regulate their emotions and manage distress effectively.
We approach clients with empathy, respect, and acceptance, regardless of their background, beliefs, or behaviours.
We empower clients to voice their opinions, preferences, and concerns throughout the therapeutic journey.
We uphold high ethical standards, maintain professionalism, and prioritize the well-being and autonomy of clients throughout the therapeutic process.
Our aim is to cultivate authenticity in our interactions with clients by being genuine, sincere, and congruent in our words and actions.
We don't withhold important information or misrepresent our abilities or expertise.
We support clients in exploring and clarifying their own goals and priorities instead of imposing our own agenda or values onto clients.
We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care that is tailored to meet the individual needs of each client while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and client-centered practice.
Our therapists continually engage in professional development to enhance their clinical skills, expand their knowledge base, and stay current with developments in the field of psychotherapy.
We strive to understand the cultural context of clients' lives and how it may influence their beliefs, values, and experiences, and we adapt our therapeutic approach accordingly to ensure that treatment is culturally sensitive and relevant.
