Grief is a natural response to loss, but loss comes in many forms. While we often associate grief with the death of a loved one, we can also grieve relationships that have ended, estrangement from family, the loss of a job, collective grief over difficult local or world events, or even the pain of watching someone we love struggle. Anticipatory grief - knowing a loss is coming but not being able to stop it - can be just as overwhelming. Moral injury, when our values are shaken by what we've witnessed or experienced, can also leave a deep wound.
Grief isn't just sadness. It can bring up guilt, anger, numbness, confusion, even relief. In a culture that struggles to talk about death and loss, you might feel pressure to “move on” or “get over it” long before you're ready. But grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and healing isn’t about making it disappear.
Therapy for grief isn’t about closure - it’s about creating space for all that you’re feeling. We specialize in helping people navigate loss with compassion and understanding, supporting you as you make sense of your emotions and find a way to carry your grief while still moving forward in life.
Losing a pet can be as heartbreaking as losing a human loved one. Pets are family, companions, and sources of unconditional love. Their absence can bring deep sadness, guilt, and loneliness, yet society often minimizes this grief.
We understand the profound impact of pet loss. Heather, one of our therapists, has specific expertise in this area and offers a compassionate space to honour your relationship with your pet.
